PARENT PARTNERSHIP

Partnering With Families

At HOPE Academy, we believe that students flourish when home and school work hand-in-hand. Our model is designed to strengthen that partnership, helping students grow into confident, capable learners with strong study habits, a solid work ethic, and the independence to thrive in college and beyond.

In the early years, parents play a hands-on role in reinforcing lessons and guiding learning at home. As students mature, they gradually assume more responsibility for their own work. By graduation, they are well-prepared to manage their time, think critically, and pursue learning with confidence.

Parental Roles Through the Years

Grade K–4 | Co-Teacher
Parents act as co-teachers, actively involved in homestudy. Responsibilities include re-teaching when necessary, supervising the completion of assignments, and ensuring the quality of work. Parents get the joy of watching their children connect concepts, while modeling habits like time management and communication with the teacher.

Grade 5–7 | Transitional Co-Teacher
Parents begin shifting from co-teacher to guide. The balance depends on each student’s maturity and level of responsibility. Parents and teachers work closely together to ensure a smooth transition as students begin to take ownership of their work.

Grade 7–10 | Guide for Dependent Study
As coursework becomes more challenging, parents encourage their children to develop disciplined study habits and take responsibility for their own accountability. While students are expected to advocate for themselves with teachers, parents remain involved by reviewing work, ensuring assignments are completed, and helping students navigate challenges. Private tutoring may sometimes be needed in advanced subjects.

Grade 11–12 | Guide for Independent Study
Students now work with greater independence, much like in a college environment. Parents supervise from a distance—observing progress, offering guidance when needed, and ensuring readiness for life beyond HOPE Academy. This stage solidifies time management, self-discipline, and a strong work ethic.
